A summary of what I’m up to right now…
Growing For Blue and WA’s Blue Economy
I lead the commercial work with high-growth potential ventures commercialising technology in fields such as seaweed aquaculture, zero emissions water transport and ecosystem regeneration. We are expanding those services from WA into SE Asia.
For Blue also undertakes research and convenes forums with leaders from across WA’s ocean industries, such as the Blue Growth Investment Forum and ‘State of the Blue Economy’ event.
Meshpoints and growing WA as a more innovative, healthy society
After co-founding Meshpoints in 2015 then leaving it in the hands of others for a few years, I’ve been invited back as facilitator of the governance of a multi-stakeholder partnership to grow innovation and entrepreneurship capacity towards a better society. Backed by an initial $5.9 million investment from Lotterywest, this is a huge leap forward for WA and especially the ‘innovation ecosystem’.
Voluntary advisory and working group roles
I play the role of an expert, representative and collaborative partner in:
- WA State Government – Regional Innovation Industry Advisory Group
- Hub on SX, Sustainability Industry Hub – Advisory Board
- West Tech Fest – organising committee
- Fremantle Chamber of Commerce – Marine and Engineering Committee
- City of Cockburn – Blue Economy Advisory Group
- Coastal and Marine Community Network – Advisory Board
- Cottesloe Coastcare – ordinary, hands-on volunteer!
I also invest in early-stage companies in collaboration with other ‘angels’ through For Blue, West Tech Fest Investor Network and Perth Angels.
Hobbies
I am studying and practicing Tibetan Buddhism and Tibetan language through the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition and the local Hayagriva Buddhist Centre.
I surf, freedive and am training for a 25km swim to Rottnest in March 2023 after a C6/7 Distectomy led me to recalibrate my efforts last year.
